Garrard County is a county located in the U.S. state of Kentucky. It is pronounced 'Gair-ad' with the third "r" silent. It was formed in 1797. As of 2000, the population was 14,792. Its county seat is Lancaster. The county is named for James Garrard, Governor of Kentucky from 1796 to 1804. It is a prohibition or dry county.
