Jessamine County is a county located in the U.S. state of Kentucky. It is within the Inner Blue Grass region, which was the center of farming and blooded stock raising, including thoroughbred horses. It was formed in 1799. As of 2000, the population was 39,041. Its county seat is Nicholasville. With regard to the sale of alcohol, it is classified as a moist county—a county in which alcohol sales are prohibited (a dry county), but containing a "wet" city, in this case Nicholasville, where package alcohol sales are allowed. A winery (Chrisman Mill Vineyards) is also authorized to operate and sell its product in the dry portion of the county.
